How We Met
We met through, what else, but Ultimate Frisbee! In the winter/spring of 2006 we were both trying out for the same team, Soylent Green. Luckily we both made it through try outs and earned a spot on the team (this story would prbably be rather different if we hadn't both made it on this team). For the first couple of months we were just friendly teammates, primarily seeing each other just at practice. It wasn't until a tournament in May in Ashland that the sparks started to fly. The two of us and our friend Jeff, all had schedules which allowed us to head out of town early and make our way down to Ashland for the weekend tourney, Cramp Up. Jesse has family in Ashland and his Aunt Ellen was nice enough to let the three of us crash at her place for the weekend.
We had the chance to get to know each other better that weekend. After two five hour car rides, playing many points on the field together and dancing the night away to Blue Turtle Seduction it seemed that our friendly conversations had turned to fliration. We returned to Portland after the tournament, started hanging out with each other more and really, have been together ever since!

The Proposal
It was a total surprise! Jesse had been scheming on his own without Becky having any idea of his intentions to propose. There was no talk of "what kind of ring do you want" or recent discussion about marriage. The great thing is, Becky loves surprises. The proposal occurred in February 2010 while on a hike to Bridal Veil Falls (funny, huh?) in the Columbia Gorge area. The photograph you see at the top of the page is the backdrop of the proposal site. Jesse's excuse for getting down on his knee was to take "one last picture in front of the falls." So Becky and Zorro (our adorable dog) posed for the photograph as Jesse reached into his pocket and said " Hey Zorro, do you want a treat?" But instead of pulling a treat for Zorro out of his pocket, it was really a treat for Becky!
